Lead Guitar

Meet P-Jay Johnson

Hometown:
Sun Prairie, WI

Band Contribution: Guitar, Mandolin, Backup Vocals.

What I do when I'm not rehearsing or performing: I work as a Regional Representative for a major healthcare facility here in Wisconsin and enjoy making home improvements, gardening, exercise and social situations.

Experience: Varied background that ranges from Blues, Soul, Funk and Rock to Swing and Big Band- (my Dad said “someday you’ll like the Big Bands” he was right again) I guess that I’ve mixed it up a bit.

Influences:  All of the Mr. Kings, Eric Gale, Cornell Dupree, Bruce Conte, Johnny V, Wah Wah Watson, Hugh McCracken and Fly Brooks are a few that come to mind. I also love the sounds of horn sections and Hammond B-3’s.

Favorite Music: Anything that makes people move!

Favorite Pink Houses Memory: Getting the gig!

John Mellencamp’s music is pretty new to me and I’m discovering that he has written a great catalogue of songs over the years.  What I’m finding is that there is a little bit of “all of us” in his themes and that the basic foundations of the compositions seem to be used exponentially in very clever ways.

I’m looking forward to joining my fellow band mates in The Pink Houses Band and performing some good-ole American Rock and Roll for you. Come on out and have some fun with us in 2009!
