Bands you've played with: Orchid, Greenfield, Cornerstone: Drums; Fabulous Remakes, Delusions of Grandeur, Mergeleft: Bass; PINK HOUSES: sax and percussion
Other music-related accomplishments: I originally played in rock bands for over 3 years on the drums; later had a brief stint in a dixieland jazz band, before joining a tartar sauce happy punk band while in college.
Favorite musical groups: Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, The Clash, Cowboy Mouth, Mother's Finest, Audioslave
How did you first get into playing music? What made you want to join a band? It was a natural coming from a musical family. My mother played both the saxophone and piano; my father was a band director for years, fluent on both woodwinds and brass, and an accomplished classical and jazz trumpeter from age 16; he was also the one who bought me my first beatles 45 (what's that, eh?) at age 8, and let me join my first real rock band at age 16, which was playing in bars at the time, and to opt out of high school pep band in favour of doing overnights out of state with my next rock band .
Name the bands/artists that have most influenced you and why: DAVID BOWIE: he is just the best there ever was. He has done everything, usually 3 years ahead of his time in each instance. DEEP PURPLE: do they rock or what? Listen to the variations and group improvisations they go through performing 'space truckin' on their 'made in japan' disc. GOLDFINGER: the '90s most underrated punk ska band. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE: a kick ass rhythm section, politically aware lyrics and the most sonically inventive guitarist around since 1992 (sorry about that TR!!).
Some of your favorite songs: Nine Inch Nails - The Becoming , Audioslave - Doesn't Remind Me, Goldfinger - City of 2 Faces, Frank Zappa - The Purple Lagoon, Red Hot Chili Peppers - bloodsugarsexmagic, David Bowie - Breaking Glass, Miles Davis - A Tribute to Jack Johnson (the whole album only 2 songs on it anyway!!),
Hometown: Born in Edgerton, Wisconsin, living in Milwaukee.
My own words to live by: Always work hard, always play hard
Other information the world can't live without knowing about you? Dark ales in the winter, Maibock in spring, MGD in the summer, Oktoberfest in the autumn
