Experience: Eric Koppa began his musical journey in the “Motor City”, where he participated in the Montreux Detroit Jazz Festival and received the Louis Armstrong Jazz award his senior year of high school.
His musical path has lead to performances throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Eric has studied or performed with jazz saxophonists Bob Berg, James Carter, Chris Potter, Mike Smith, Walt Weiskopf, Seamus Blake, and Jim Snidero. He has also studied with classical saxophonists, Trent Kynaston, John Sampen, Ken Radnofsky, and Lynn Klock.
After graduating from college with a degree in Saxophone Performance and Jazz Studies, he spent 10 years playing professionally in Chicago, IL, including a tour with the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
Eric teaches saxophone, clarinet, flute, music theory, jazz improvisation, and music composition and currently performs weekly with Madison music guru, Clyde Stubblefield. He travels nationally to perform and teach. A complete bio can be found on www.erickoppa.com.
