David Mazzie

Percussion, Acoustic, Banjo, Mandolin, Backup Vocals

David MazzieBorn: May 23rd

Hometown: Born in Chicago, IL; currently residing in Watertown, WI

Band contributions: Percussion, guitars, banjo, mandolin, vocals

Experience: I have been performing live for over 25 years. Since 2001, I have been performing throughout Wisconsin and northern Illinois as a solo acoustic act.

My “secret identity”: I am a special education paraprofessional at Watertown High School.

How I came to join Pink Houses: I had originally met the band when my wife Katie joined as a vocalist in the fall of 2006. I guess you can technically say I started out as a “band wife”! I eventually spent sometime working with the awesome sound crew, doing a little bit of everything. Occasionally Tome would invite me up onstage to “sit in” with the band, and subbed for my predecessor Jeff Reitz on on handful of gigs over the year. I am very excited to be a “full time” member of the band now-these are a stellar group of musicians.

Musical influences: The Beatles were really the first group that I got excited about musically, but growing up in a large musical family, there was a lot of diversity as far as listening goes-Big Band, Country, Jazz/fusion, Classical, and all different styles of Rock. Additionally, you can't grow up in the Chicago area and not get exposed to some great Blues and R&B as well. As a singer, strong harmonies have always been a big attraction to me, so I've always been fond of CSN and the Eagles, just to name two.

Besides music, I love: Reading, baseball, movies, and of course my family; Katie, Josh and Kylie.

People I most admire: My mother, because she raised me...and my wife and kids, because they have to live with me!
